My wife, father-in-law, and I went out with guide Jason. This was my wife and my second guided trip and my father-in-law's first. Jason was an excellent teacher, helped us learn about reading the water and how to use different techniques. He put us on fish and we had a productive half-day. We plan to make a trip back to Asheville to be able to go out with Jason again. I highly recommend making the trip just to go fish with him!

My wife and I had an awesome day fly fishing on the Watauga with Jason, our guide! We both reeled in our share of medium size Rainbow Trout (plus one Brown) and both of us hooked up, fought, and boated a good sized rainbow in the Trophy section of the river. On two occasions we both had fish on at the same time. Jason was patient and gave us a lot of much appreciated tips on getting a fish hooked and in the net. One of the best fly fishing trips I have had in the East.

Fly fishing was on my wife’s bucket list, so I decided to give her an all day guided float trip. We grew up bass fishing, so we had lots of bad muscle memory, but Jason Van Dyke was a great instructor. He was patient and persistent with two very hard-headed students. We learned a ton about fly fishing, and my wife is looking forward to our next trip when the water temp cools down. I’d highly recommend this service to anyone.

We did a two-angler full day guided wading trip with Jason, an incredibly skilled and knowledgeable fisherman. He was not only patient and helpful from beginning to end, he was truly engaging and amiable as well. He brought the very best out of two trout fishing rookies, taking us to a pristine location with perfect conditions for fishing. We caught a LOT of fish (over 30 between the two of us) and lost a lot more due to angler ineptitude and inexperience. Jason has the knack - professional and patient, yet never condescending (despite our struggles with unfamiliar equipment and conditions), and was willing to do anything to make the experience enjoyable and rewarding. Can’t recommend this company more highly... true professionals who know how to make it an incredible experience.

I had a great fly fishing trip with Jason. This was only my second time ever to go fly fishing. Jason was very patient and a great instructor in teaching me how to fly fish and not revert back to my non-fly fishing habits. He is an excellent, very experienced guide and focused on locating the fish and teaching how to catch them. I had an awesome experience!

My two sons an I had an incredible time fly fishing on our guided trip. Jason was awesome! He was informative and patient (I had never fly fished before). He put us on the fish and helped us refine our technique. The streams and mountains are incredibly beautiful. An absolutely awesome time!

Been out with Jason three times now. My Sept outing was two days back to back with my adult son on the Watauga. Both days were a perfect mix of education, technique coaching and catching fish. The best endorsement I can give is we will be doing another 2 day trip with Jason in the near future.

Had an excellent day out with Jason on Saturday. Awesome guide. Even as a reasonably experienced fly fisherman, I learned a ton from Jason through his specific and jovial guidance. We fished pristine water and I lost track of strikes and fish. I will be back and will certainly send friends to the shop based on this experience. One of the best guides I've had.

2 Oct 2016, Had the great pleasure of fishing with Jason Van Dyke on the Watauga river. We shook hands at the Asheville fly shop @ 7 am and the day of education had begun. Jason asked about our past fishing experiences and shared a little about his own. A true professional from beginning to end! Conservationists minded; from the river, to the fish. Obvious that Jason cares more about the fishery than the money! If you are searching for the teacher and historian of the local water, Jason is the guide for you!
